Recently, the number of Japanese companies employing non-Japanese nationals is rapidly increasing.
However, unlike in the case of Japanese employees, foreigners are require to obtain a “permit from the government” in order to perform basic daily activities such as “living in Japan”, “learning in Japan” and “working in Japan”, the sole reason for this being that they are of foreign nationalities. This is the fundamental idea behind the current immigration system in Japan.
Moreover, as the immigration procedures are unfamiliar procedures for most Japanese nationals, the case for many HR managers is that they do not know how to proceed when they find themselves in the actual situation of employing non-Japanese employees.
Thus, in this entry and several to follow, I will be providing information on the basic outline of the visa procedures involved in the process of employing non-Japanese employees.
